The Honda Elevate will be offered with a single Engine option – a Naturally Aspirated 1.5 liter, 4 Cylinder Petrol Engine, generating almost 120 Bhp and 145 Nm of Torque. Buyers will have a choice of a CVT Automatic Transmission and a 6 Speed Manual Transmission. Notably, this powertrain mirrors the one found in the Honda City, recognized for its reliability, proven performance, and fuel efficiency. Remarkably, it stands as the most potent Naturally Aspirated Engine in its class.

The Elevate boasts impressive Low and Mid-Range Torque, further enhanced by its shorter Gear Ratios. This translates to remarkable acceleration, even when starting from under 1000 Rpm. On the Highway, shifting into Sixth Gear at triple-digit speeds maintains a relaxed demeanor, hinting at its potential as an Efficient Long-Distance Cruiser.

The Manual Gearbox is a standout combination, positioned perfectly for Driver convenience. Its shift quality is nearly impeccable, characterized by short, effortless throws that engage precisely. The Clutch Pedal operates lightly, though mastering the engagement point while starting from a stop might require some patience.

Honda Elevate: Ride and Handling

The Elevate SUV offers a comfortable and smooth ride experience. Its suspension effectively absorbs road irregularities, particularly at lower to moderate speeds, resulting in a comfortable journey. The vehicle adeptly navigates bumps and potholes without transmitting harshness to the passengers. Even though there might be a slight sense of movement in the rear suspension when driving on extremely uneven roads, it doesn’t cross the threshold into discomfort.

Overall, the Elevate SUV’s strength lies in its ability to provide a pleasant and comfortable ride, although it might encounter challenges when facing particularly rough road conditions at elevated speeds.

On well-maintained roads, the Honda Elevate exhibits stability and confidence, maintaining its course without feeling overly light or nervous. While not overly responsive to steering, it remains composed around corners and doesn’t roll excessively. Safety prospects are promising due to its Honda City platform, which has already achieved a five-star rating in Asian NCAP tests.

The interior exudes warmth, resembling a cozy study with a fireplace and bookshelves. The Front Seats, borrowed from the Honda City, are plush and comfortable, though positioned a bit low for an SUV. The overall Driving position is Car-like and inviting. The Cabin’s thoughtful design includes Adjustable Steering, Well-placed Gear Shifter, Easily accessible Audio and Climate Controls, and numerous convenient Cup and Bottle holders. The homely ambiance is immediately apparent in the Elevate’s interior.

The Elevate’s cabin isn’t as well-equipped as the Seltos’s versions. It’s closer to the Seltos HTX trim with a similar 1.5L Petrol Engine and almost similar Features list. While lacking a Panoramic Sunroof, it features ADAS, unlike the HTX. The Elevate has a Height-Adjustable Driver’s Seat, Single-Zone Climate Control, a Single-Pane Sunroof, and Wireless Charging. The 10.25” Touchscreen Multimedia System is a significant improvement from previous Honda models. However, it falls short compared to rivals. The Reverse Camera resolution needs improvement. The Driver Info System combines Analogue Speedometer with Digital Tachometer, Trip Computer, G-Meter, and Honda Sense (ADAS) shortcuts.

Conclusion:

While not groundbreaking, the Honda Elevate excels in seamlessly integrating into your life, providing value without causing disruptions. It prioritizes comfort with excellent visibility, comfortable seats, and a smooth ride. Though not the fastest, its low and mid-range torque ensures an effortless and relaxing driving experience, suitable for commuting and cruising. It may not be thrilling, but it covers the essentials well, making it a practical choice for those seeking a straightforward, well-rounded vehicle.

In the Indian market, the Honda Elevate will find itself in competition with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq. Enthusiasts can mark their calendars for the expected launch of the Honda Elevate on 4th September 2023, a month filled with anticipation.
