Kia India has recently launched its much-awaited Kia Seltos Facelift 2023. The New Kia Seltos Facelift has been launched with a host of new features inside and outside, a Revamped Front and Rear end and a completely overhauled Interior. In the Mid-Size SUV segment, the New 2023 Kia Seltos Facelift will compete against the likes of Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq and MG Astor in the Petrol segment, for which we have already done our spec comparison, and will compete against the likes of Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV-700 and MG Hector in the Diesel segment.

We are today putting all the Diesel powered Mid-Size SUVs against New 2023 Kia Seltos Facelift to see how the updated Seltos flares against its rivals.

The New Kia Seltos Facelift and the Hyundai Creta are undoubtedly the smallest among all the SUVs in terms of Length, Width & Height. In terms of overall Length, the MG Hector is the longest vehicle in this segment at 4699mm whereas the Tata Harrier is the widest of all, at 1894mm. MG Hector having the largest Boot Space of 587 litres, is also the tallest of all, at 1760mm. It is only the Boot Space where the New Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta are second only to MG Hector with 433 litres of space in both. The Mahindra XUV-700 has the smallest boot space of 240 litres only.

The New Kia Seltos Facelift has also the smallest Wheel Base of the lot at 2610mm with Hyundai Creta also having the similar wheel base. MG Hector along with Mahindra XUV-700 have the largest Wheel Base of 2750 mm.

Tata Harrier, being the widest vehicle in this comparison, has also the Best Ground Clearance of 205mm among all.

In the overall Dimensions Data Sheet, the new Kia Seltos Facelift and the Hyundai Creta are the smallest of the lot, while the Tata Harrier and Mahindra XUV-700 are the largest vehicles in the Mid-Size SUV segment.

In the engine options, all the Mid-Size SUVs are available with a Turbo Charged Diesel Engine. The new Kia Seltos and the Hyundai Creta have the smallest engine displacements of only 1.5 litres and have the lowest Power and Torque output figures. Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV-700 and the MG hector have almost the same engine displacements wherein Mahindra XUV-700 has a little lower Power output than the other two. The Torque figures are almost the same for Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV-700 and MG Hector at 350 Nm.

The New Kia Seltos Facelift Diesel is not available in Manual Transmission and is the only SUV to offer iMT (Intelligent Manual Transmission) along with an option of 6 Speed Torque Converter Automatic in this segment. MG Hector on the other hand has only a Manual Transmission option and does not offer an Automatic Transmission with its Diesel Engine. The Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV-700 and the Hyundai Creta, all three offer 6 Speed Manual Transmissions along with an option of 6 Speed Torque Converter Automatic.

Having the smallest Engine displacements, the New Kia Seltos Facelift and the Hyundai Creta are also the most efficient of all. In the manual transmission versions, MG Hector is the least efficient with mileage of only 15.58 Kmpl and the Creta being the most efficient at 21 Kmpl. Kia Seltos Facelift does not offer a Manual transmission with Diesel. The new Kia Seltos Diesel iMT is as efficient as a Hyundai Creta Diesel Manual. Tata Harrier is the least efficient in Automatic version with claimed mileage of only 14.61 Kmpl and Kia Seltos the most efficient with claimed mileage figures of 19.1 Kmpl. Mahindra XUV-7OO, on the other hand, has almost similar mileage figures of 17 Kmpl and 17.5 kmpl for Manual and Automatic Transmission respectively.

The Hyundai Creta Diesel has the lowest starting price of Rs. 11.96 lakhs for the manual version and New Kia Seltos has the lowest starting price for a Diesel with iMT (Semi-Automatic). MG Hector has the highest starting Price and the highest top end price for a manual version. The Prices of the Automatic Diesel versions of Tata Harrier and Mahindra XUV-7OO starts from a point where the Kia Seltos Facelift and the Hyundai Creta have their top end variants placed.

Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV-7OO and the Hector, all fall at the upper end of the Mid-Size SUV segment on the basis of their Engine Displacements, Power Outputs and overall Dimensions. So, comparing variant to variant of Kia Seltos with these three SUVs would not be justified. Some of the variants do clash with each other in terms of Prices but still, it depends upon the buyer’s choice as to what he/she is looking for.

If any one is looking for a big size SUV, then Tata Harrier and the Mahindra XUV-7OO would be the ideal choice, if anyone wants fuel efficient & feature rich SUVs below Rs. 20.00 Lakh mark, then Kia Seltos or the Hyundai Creta can be their ideal pick of the lot.
