Tata Motors has launched its updated sole Electric SUV offering in India, the Tata Nexon EV or Nexon.EV, with an introductory Starting Price of Rs. 14.74 Lakhs for the base Medium Range variant going up to Rs. 19.94 lakh for the Top Spec Long Range variant (Ex-Showroom).

The 2023 Tata Nexon EV is not just a Facelift but it is a significant upgradation to the outgoing model. There has been a New Gen Motor, New Software’s, New Interiors, a whole lot of Features, which all together has significantly improved the overall performance, aesthetic appeal and an increased range. Alongside all these upgradations, the Nexon EV has been renamed to Nexon.EV in accordance with the Tata’s new EV Brandings.

Tata Nexon EV Facelift: Exterior Design Updates

The 2023 Tata Nexon EV Facelift incorporates all the fresh styling elements introduced in its Internal Combustion Engine (ICE), counterpart. These updates encompass the Tata Curvv inspired Front Fascia, new Alloy Wheel Designs and connected LED Tail Lights. However, the EV variant boasts subtle differentiators to set it apart from its ICE counterpart. Notably, it omits the Traditional Grille, resulting in a clean, minimalist appearance. 

Additionally, it features a captivating connected LED Light Bar upfront that connects the Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) and serves as a Charge Level Indicator, adding a unique touch to the Vehicle’s Front Design. The slatted Air Inserts in the Lower Bumper have also been tweaked to distinguish the Nexon EV from the ICE model.

At the Rear end, the Nexon.EV retains its X-shaped Connected LED Tail Lamps, a more aggressive Roof mounted Spoiler and gets a new set of 16” Alloy Wheels, which are consistent across ICE and EV versions. The Nexon.EV’s Tailgate, now proudly displays an ‘.EV’ Badge.

Tata Nexon EV Facelift: Technical Details

The Nexon.EV is offered in two broad variants, Medium Range (MR) and Long Range (LR), with the ARAI Certified Range of 325 Kms and 465 Kms, respectively.

The Medium Range (MR) variant is equipped with a 30KWh Battery Pack, while the Long Range (LR) variant features a larger 40.5KWh Battery Pack. Interestingly, despite retaining the same Battery sizes, the overall Range has increased by almost 12 kms over the outgoing model.

The Medium Range variant comes with a Standard 3.3KW AC Charger and the Long Range variant comes with a Standard 7.2 KW AC Charger, enabling a 10 to 100% Charge in 6 hours for the Long Range (LR). Additionally, the Nexon.EV also features V2V (Vehicle to Vehicle) and V2L (Vehicle to Load) Charging capabilities, allowing users to charge or power other Electrical Appliances or even another Electric Vehicle with the Nexon.EV.

Regarding Power, the Medium Range (MR) variant produces 129 Hp and 215 Nm of Torque, while the Long Range (LR) variant produces Peak Power of 145 Hp and a Peak Torque of 215 Nm. Notably, Torque has decreased by 30 Nm for the Medium Range (MR) variant and 38 Nm for the Long Range (LR) variant, when compared to the outgoing model. Tata claims a 0-100kph acceleration time of 8.9 seconds for the LR, with a top speed of 150kph.

Tata Nexon EV Facelift: Interior upgrades and Features

Inside the cabin, the Tata Nexon EV Facelift shares the same Dashboard layout as the Nexon ICE Facelift, featuring a contemporary minimalist Design characterized by vertical and straight lines. The Cabin’s color scheme varies depending on the chosen trim level. Familiar elements such as the Fully Digital Driver’s Display, two Spoke Steering Wheel with an illuminated Tata Logo, and Touch panel for Automatic Climate Control have been retained. However, the Tata Nexon EV Facelift boasts a larger 12.3” Touchscreen Infotainment System, a step up from the 10.25” unit found in the ICE version.

The Ex-Showroom Prices, when compared to outgoing model, the has increased by Rs. 25K for the Base Model, while the Top Spec model is dearer by just Rs. 40K.
