Tata Motors is all set to unveil Tata Nexon Facelift ICE and Tata Nexon Facelift EV on September 14th 2023. While the automaker is yet to officially unveil these two SUVs, we received some inputs on various aspects of the upcoming internal combustion engine (ICE) Nexon facelift and the Nexon EV, including its exterior, interior, powertrains, and the new nomenclature for its variants.
Tata Nexon Facelift: Design Inspiration
The upcoming Tata Nexon facelift will take design cues from the upcoming Tata Curvv. This marks the second significant design update for the Nexon, showcasing a revamped split-headlamp arrangement, a full-width connected LED tail-lights, redesigned alloy wheels and a departure from the previous Y-shaped themes. While specifics about the Nexon EV facelift’s design and powertrain are still forthcoming, it’s anticipated to mirror the ICE model.
Tata Nexon Facelift: Revised Nomenclatures for Variants
With the Nexon facelift, Tata is introducing a new variant nomenclature structure, moving away from the prior ‘X’-based badgings. The Nexon facelift will offer a total of 11 trims under the new system, including Smart, Smart+, Smart+ (S), Pure, Pure (S), Creative, Creative+, Creative+ (S), Fearless, Fearless (S), and Fearless+ (S).
Tata Nexon Facelift: Interior Design updates
Inside the Nexon facelift, a refreshed dashboard awaits to greet you, featuring sleeker air vents, a touch-operated HVAC control panel, an enlarged 10.25-inch touchscreen, a digital instrument cluste and a novel two-spoke steering wheel. Notably, the rotary drive mode selector and manual handbrake are retained.
Tata Nexon Facelift: Powertrain Details
The Nexon facelift will retain its current powertrain options. The 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine and 1.5-litre diesel engine will remain under the hood. Petrol variants will be offered with a choice four transmissions: a new 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed manual, and a 6-speed AMT. Meanwhile, diesel variants are equipped with 6-speed gearboxes, Manual and AMT.
The Nexon EV Facelift is also expected to retain its current Battery Pack options and are expected to be rebadged as Nexon EV Prime and Nexon EV Max.
Tata Nexon Facelift: Expected Prices
In terms of pricing, both the Nexon facelift and Nexon EV facelift are expected to bear slightly higher price tags compared to their predecessors. The exact prices will be revealed on the day of launch.
Tata Nexon Facelift: Conclusion
The updated Nexon and Nexon EV models are set to further elevate Tata Motors’ offerings in the competitive Compact SUV segment. The Nexon facelift will compete against the likes of Mahindra XUV300, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Renault Kiger, and Nissan Magnite. In EV segment, the Nexon EV facelift will continue its rivalry with the Mahindra XUV400.
